Rob Amaral Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 I have a call out to a tech, b ut before he comes, I was wondering if any of you know about this--- 2 year old Whirlpool fridge, water has been dripping into 'pan' at lower freezer area and freezing ... a lot of water... Any thoughts??
Marc Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 Change the defrost control, then see how it works. It's usually at the bottom of the fridge. Not expensive. I just replaced my 12 year old Frigidaire after the fourth major failure. Two compressor failures, a compressor start relay failure, and the control card went out, all in 12 years. Maybe I cursed at it too much. Marc
Chad Fabry Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 On a warning note, contractors around here install the GE Profile line of appliances. There are major and pervasive issues with the refrigerators, gas stoves and dishwashers. Half of the units are swapped out within 3 years.
Rob Amaral Posted March 12, 2015 Author Report Posted March 12, 2015 Defrost water is not even entering the defrost-water tube.. some little glitch or blockage where the tube connects to defrost-drain... Thanks everyone..
John Kogel Posted March 12, 2015 Report Posted March 12, 2015 If a drain tube is visible at the back, and if there is an air gap, and if a blob of lint has dropped in there, you can poke it out with a piece of stiff wire and move on. Did that once, back in the 90's.
Rob Amaral Posted March 12, 2015 Author Report Posted March 12, 2015 Solved.. it's a design-issue ("thanks Whirlpool") Dopes.. anyways, the guy showed up with the new 'novel idea' system to fix this. (It was indeed a clogged 'outlet connection'.. The new novel idea? A GD P-trap.. what idiots..
