Neal Lewis Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 The aluminum body of this 7 year old hot water boiler gas valve is heavily corroded. There was no indication that this was the result of a flooded basement. Would this have an effect on the reliability of the valve? Thanks. Click to Enlarge 31.49 KB
Chad Fabry Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 The corrosion all but certainly won't affect function. That said, I bet there's a drafting issue and the valve is exposed to combustion by-products on a regular basis.
Tom Raymond Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 There is rust on every metal surface in that pic. That thing lives in a hostile environment. Maybe not under water, but always wet.
