Steven Hockstein Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 Seeing this a lot lately. The exterior is to the left side of the valve. Click to Enlarge 52.85 KB
John Kogel Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 I see it. It is Bib in the thread title and Bob in the pic title. It is just an all-thumbs typo error. Yeah, I see that a lot, too. [] The old pipe on the right is tarnished from so many years in a damp environment. Yeah I see that quite a bit. [] Oh, you mean the backwards valve? He can winterize the house and have some water left in the bib for ice cubes. [] Steve, you are seeing this a lot? By the law of averages, it should only be 50% of the time. []
Jim Baird Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 ...bleeder on wrong side leads to repairs like the one seen on the left. Did the plumber not turn the valve around to guarantee a future call?
Steven Hockstein Posted December 23, 2014 Author Report Posted December 23, 2014 ...bleeder on wrong side leads to repairs like the one seen on the left. Did the plumber not turn the valve around to guarantee a future call? "Plumber"? I assume you mean the guy that owns a torch and a way to get to the big box store to buy the stuff so the valve can be installed wrong. Probably the same guy that did this: Click to Enlarge 44.29 KB Washer waste pipe Click to Enlarge 26.81 KB Discharge from the water conditioning equipment
John Kogel Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I call it an outdoor faucet. To some of my clients, bibs are for babies.
Marc Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 It IS confusing. The nozzle at the end of the spout on my kitchen faucet points downward. Never seen one that wasn't. Does that make it a bibcock? Marc
Tom Raymond Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I keep both my bibcocks in the basement so they won't freeze. They are just inside the door, fed by a 3/4" line after the meter but before the whole house filter. If I open them both the flow to the house drops to a trickle.
Steven Hockstein Posted December 24, 2014 Author Report Posted December 24, 2014 I thought it was bibb. I think you are right. In my experiance, architects are typically bad with grammur and spellling. Myself includded! Merry Christmas to those that celebrate!
Scottpat Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I find thermal underwear works great with my bibcock! Merry Christmas Y'all!

Myself includded! Merry Christmas to those that celebrate! OK, it's a 'bibb' if it's under the 'dinning room'. Happy Holidays and y'all take Scott's advice and keep your hose bibs warm. []
hausdok Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I've always called them sillcocks. Hee, hee, Wait till he goes under there, turns off that valve and then opens that bleeder expecting it to pee just a little bit. It's going to look like a scene from a Laurel and Hardy movie. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike

plummen Posted December 26, 2014 Report Posted December 26, 2014 abt 40% of readers won't see it 'tho. You mean the drain being on wrong end of valve?Yeah some people shouldn't be allowed to play with tools.

Jim Katen Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 Seeing this a lot lately. The exterior is to the left side of the valve. Click to Enlarge 52.85 KB It's a silly mistake, but as long as they shut the valve and leave the bib open, it shouldn't cause any problems.
