Marc
Hi - which gas furnace is better carrier 58sta070 or Bryant 310aav036070? Thanks!! Last I heard was that Bryant is made on a Carrier assembly line. Bryant just puts their name on it, maybe paints it a different color. Could be you're talking about essentially the same unit. kurt
They're both owned by UTC, a division of United Technologies. They're not exactly the same furnace, but I suspect the guts (heat exchangers and basic controls) are the same. What are you trying to do?
Jim Katen
Hi - which gas furnace is better carrier 58sta070 or Bryant 310aav036070? Thanks!! Neither is better. Either one will keep you warm for the next 20 years or so.
kurt
They're both crap imho, with lousy warranties. I'd rather have a new Goodman than any UT product.

Scottpat
I agree with Kurt. I like Goodman, not only is their price usually lower and they offer a better warranty but their cabinets on the condenser units really protect the soft fins on the coil. SNations
When clients ask me this type of question I generally reply that the brand of furnace isn't nearly as important as the quality of the folks who install it.
kurt
Yes. In a globalized economy with everyone buying everyone else, and investment bankers driving acquisitions, value engineering takes over (UT, Nordyne, etc.). The "good stuff" has gone sour and the stuff we all used to laugh at (Goodman) has gotten good. I've been seeing some American Standard (now Trane?) stuff that's really nice. Marc
I've been seeing some American Standard (now Trane?) stuff that's really nice. Trane buys from American Standard and puts their colors and name on them. They aren't so bad but I'd never buy one myself. I have a saying about them...yeah, it may be 'Hard to Stop a Trane' but you just wait until you try to get the dang thing started again. They're second only to Carrier as a bitch to work on. JMHO. Brandon Whitmore
My Goodman GMH95046 is running strong after about 6 years of service. The installer was pretty particular (me), which likely has helped. Cost: $700'ish shipped to my door. Here's a high efficiency Goodman @ about the same BTU range as the OP's with free shipping @ a good price: http://www.alpinehomeair.com/viewproduc ... =453062322 Or, for an 80% unit: http://www.alpinehomeair.com/viewproduc ... =453064680
