Denray Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 This is above the tub, but I couldn't find any kind of etching. So, not safety glass? Its got the no see through texture. Click to Enlarge 15.21 KB
kurt Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 If there's no "bug" indicating it's impact resistant, it's smart to put it in the report.
Marc Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I think he means safety glass. 'Impact resistant' is a different specification, unrelated to safety glass and is always etched. Marc
Tom Raymond Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Glass is tempered by passing it through a furnace then blasting it with cool air, usually on a bed of rollers. If you dont see a bug, look for the ripples from where the hot glass sagged between the rollers.

Jim Baird Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 ...if it is "decorative" it doesn't have to meet. Could be lots of slack cut by inspect of original, or no inspect at all. Within 60 vertical inches of tub drain should be tempered.

Within 60 vertical inches of tub drain should be tempered. The decorative glazing exception doesn't apply to windows over tubs. Obscure glass over a tub shouldn't be considered to be decorative anyway. In order to qualify as "decorative" glazing, the panel has to be "decorative" or "artistic" and "not functional." It's also got to be divided into segments.
Chad Fabry Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Offer to test with a spring loaded center punch. Raymond taught me about the tempered glass *wave* six or seven years ago. He's right- you can literally see tempered glass.
