Found an old one today at a flea market. Looked like a Rheem and maybe Rheem made it but Hoffman's name was on it.

Nearly went for it at $60. It's gas powered.

Perhaps Bill K can hazard a guess on the age.

It's the same name and logo style I've seen on very old Hoffman water heaters (around 1920). They were all cast iron and manufactured in Ohio.

It looks like Clayton & Lambert of KY bought the name and changed some of the parts to steel.

It had to have been made after 1926. Something I found in the past indicated that the AGA logo with the star may have first been used in 1929. I would say certainly pre-WWII.
