tps777 Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 I had an electrician tell me a few things today that seem suspect so I just want another opinion. There are permits that were never issued and expired permits from previous owners (some going back 30 years!) that the city is now forcing me to pay for and fix. I have a number of questions, I'm posting my questions hopefully in the correct forums. 3) Plastic conduit (pvc uv rated) cannot be used where it is visible and cannot go into a panel because you can only use it underground or inside a wall. There are numerous places where PVC (uv rated gray stuff) is visible and below 8'; coming out of the ground into a panel or junction box He is saying all this have to be converted to metal before leaving the ground elevation?
Jim Katen Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 If it's in an area where it's subject to physical damage, you're not supposed to use schedule 40 PVC, but schedule 80 is fine. (352.10(F)).

Jim Port Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 The NEC allows exposed PVC conduit. It can go into a panel.
