Barb Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 For those with garage furnaces, we just installed a new one on Wednesday and this one needs drainage. We have no drain in garage and there is separation of house and garage by brck wall where breezeway used to be. Any ideas? LAst furnace was from 1957 and didn't shed water. Do we need a different type of furnace in the garage? This one is high efficiency.
kurt Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 If you're in Chicago, your furnace has to be in a closet with fire rated door, weatherstripping, combustion air venting, and all ductwork and equipment isolated from the garage interior. If you have all that, drainage is relatively easy. Install a small condensate pump and pump the condensate to an interior house drain. There will be a little head scratching, but probably only a little.
