Jim Katen Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 What was the requirement for underfloor insulation in Washington State in 1999?
randynavarro Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I want to say R-19 but can't back that up with anything in writing. My oldest energy code reference is 2003. If you have the time and motivation, email Gary Nordeen, Andy Gordon, or David Hales at WSU.edu
David Meiland Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Agree with both things Randy said. Look at energy.wsu.edu for contact info. You can usually get a live person there within a few seconds of dialing the phone.
hausdok Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Hi, You need the WSEC Builder's Field Guide 3rd Edition that was published by WSU. The answer depends on where the home is since there are 8 climate zones with different insulation requirements in this state. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike

Actually, only two climate zones and they both, currently, have exactly the same requirements for underfloor insulation - at least right now - R-30. I was just surprised to see R-19 under the floor of a 1999 house. I would have expected something more like R-25 to have been required since the early 1990s.
