Mike Lamb Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 This boiler pipe looks like it has been patched with an iron paste repair compound. I have used Black Swan's iron paste to repair metal drain pipe with great success but do not know if this stuff will hold up under the pressurized conditions of a boiler. Any remarks would be helpful. Click to Enlarge 44.68 KB
allseason Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 A steam heating boiler is only running 1-3 psi. The pressure doesn't seem like an issue. Changes in temps may have an effect.
Mike Lamb Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 Should have been more specific. It is a closed loop system but the psi isn't much higher at 12-15. I'm wondering if anyone has any practical experience with this patch.
kurt Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 It'll work for a while. Then it won't. Good catch.
