Age of Roof

Most asphalt shingle roofs are fairly easy to determine the age to within 5 years. An occasional roof's age is much more difficult. I just love it when I can climb down a ladder and announce the exact age of the roof.

I have a statement in my intro that says condition is more important than age. I report roof age as to how old the roof looks. I was showed credible documents recently that a roof that looked close to 20 yrs old was only 9. I reported the age as approx. 20 yrs.
