Mike Lamb Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Chicago is in the middle or end of a terrific heat wave and air conditioners have been running nonstop. At first I thought there was some kind of leak at the air-conditioning condensate but it turns out the water is coming from the combustion air concentric supply pipe for a Cat IV furnace. I'm guessing humidity and condensation is being drawn in and leaking on top of the furnace but it does seem odd. Any comments on this? Click to Enlarge 42.81 KB
AHI in AR Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Looks like there are water stains on the pipe. Are you sure that it isn't simply leaking at the roof flashing?
Mike Lamb Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 The pipe was dry. It is a wall vent set up.
kieferma Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 absolutely condensation. not sure what other source there would be.
