Jerry Simon Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Hey groovy guys, groovy gals, a thingy from the '60's. Downtown Chicago 1965 mid-rise, metal single-hung windows, single-strength glass, and outside, either side of each window, was a metal bracket. It looks like it's for securing a shade/blind line, but on the outside? Anyone know the purpose of such brackets? Click to Enlarge 52.46 KB
Steven Hockstein Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Maybe there was some type of exterior window guard system to help prevent someone from falling. It looks that window has not moved in a long time.

Bill Kibbel Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Window washer pegs. Yup. You can still get the belts that have clips that work with those brackets.
