Jerry Simon Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Jerry's front door? [:-thumbu] Okay, Tom & "Jerry", right???
Erby Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Tom can't fit in there. That's why Jerry is still alive!
Bill Kibbel Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 It's a device for controlling coal furnace dampers before the "automatic regulator" (thermostat) was invented. The vertical channels on each side held sliders that were attached to chains. The pair of chains operated the draft and check-draft dampers of the furnace. I can't read the letters on the casting in the pic, but I've seen it many times. I'll bet it reads "Lennox Furnace Company".
Chris Bernhardt Posted June 12, 2013 Author Report Posted June 12, 2013 Thanks Bill you're the man! Chris, Oregon
Chad Fabry Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I bet it's sad to be touching that wall paper.
Steven Hockstein Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Jerry's front door? [:-thumbu] Okay, Tom & "Jerry", right??? Yes
Jim Katen Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 In our area, it probably controlled a sawdust furnace rather than a coal one.
