Jim Katen
Silva wool or Balsam wool. Basically, shredded wood with borates to reduce its flammability.
Wasden
Thanks Jim. Was there a specific era it was used? Was/is it common. Any good as an insulator?
Jim Katen
Thanks Jim. Was there a specific era it was used? Was/is it common. Any good as an insulator? I associate it with houses from the '40s and '50s. I've only seen it a half dozen times or so - it wasn't common in my area. I see much more Kimsul from that period. No idea how effective it is as an insulator.
