Stephen Lagueux Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Low slope, steel roof was installed over the old shingles. I wonder what would be the implication of such installation, if any? Click to Enlarge 39.72 KB
kurt Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 The clear implication is there is a cretin involved, maybe several cretins.
Brandon Whitmore Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Metal over comp. shingles isn't an issue. I write up any exposed fastener installed metal roof I see as not recommended for a residence. Did you let your customer follow you up on the roof?
Stephen Lagueux Posted May 21, 2013 Author Report Posted May 21, 2013 Did you let your customer follow you up on the roof? Well, first thing I knew, he was on the roof.
Marc Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 In my climate that arrangement results in trapped moisture, rotted decking and corrosion of the metal panels beginning on the underside and ending up topside years later. The rake trim in your photo is missing. Marc

The exposed fastener thing is the kicker; it just shouldn't have been done. I'm sticking with the cretin implication.
Tom Raymond Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Two cretins and a 30 pack. They're probably wall panels too.
Stephen Lagueux Posted May 21, 2013 Author Report Posted May 21, 2013 Yeah, in that neck of the woods, their are lots of know it all who've seen it and done it all but for most of them, the genealogy tree goes straight up.
