Erby Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 15 year old, vinyl sided house. Moisture meter said everything was dry including the drywall under the windows. No visible leak sources around the outside of the windows. Stains were present on both west and east facing windows. Any ideas. Tom Raymond Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 That looks like cheap common lumber to me. Knots and pitch pockets in white pine will bleed for decades.
kurt Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Exactly what Raymond said. Shoulda sealed it with shellac before they painted.
John Dirks Jr Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 That looks like cheap common lumber to me. Knots and pitch pockets in white pine will bleed for decades. I've seen the same staining on occasion in the past and wondered myself. Great info. Thanks. [:-thumbu]
Erby Posted May 16, 2013 Author Report Posted May 16, 2013 Sharing questions and knowledge is what it's all about. I've learned more here than anywhere else. I used to participate heavily in other message boards also but as my inspections increased and time available for surfing shortened, I've had to drop back to less participation. Pretty much limited to here now, though I occasionally visit the others. The bullshit and whining that doesn't happen here, well not much anyway, is what keeps bring me back here.
John Kogel Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Actually I'm here for the bullshit and whining, but there's something for everybody. [] Give Stephen the Quebecer a pat on the head too. He nailed it first.

I'll drink to that! []
