I know this has been discussed before so if someone could direct me to that thread I would appreciate it. My search came up empty.

The reason you cannot run Romex through heat ducts is because it cannot be properly secured in place??? 300.11

If you're in Chicago metro, you can't run NM anywhere, let alone in a duct.

Are you in Kane or McHenry counties?

You mean you are not supposed to run NM in Chgo. metro?

Well this was in county Cook and I'm also from county Cook and someone ran NM. Go figure.

I'm not sure if you're joking. Chicago metro as in Cook, Lake, and Dupage.

Yes. I was kidding. I guess that would explain all the EMT around here.

I see Romex plenty and have used it myself and as an HI I don't care if others use it as long as they are doing it right which is rarely. Hence, my inquiry.

I merely mention that local code would not likely approve its use and this is not the way to install it anyway.
