Mark P
I could not find a data label on a Kenmore furnace - it looks to be at least 20 years old it not older. I'm thinking perhaps 1987 based on this gas valve, but interrupting gas valve data is not something I?ve been schooled in. Does anyone know how to read a gas valve ? and if so what is the date? Neal Lewis
Yeah, I'd go with 1987. On older furnaces I usually try to cross reference the gas valve date stamp to something on the furnace data plate. The gas valve date usually jibes with the furnace data plate. Who's the manufacturer of that furnace?

Bill Kibbel
Robertshaw standing pilot gas valves have the hand-stamped 4 digits. The first 2 are the year (that the valve was manufactured).
Stephen D. Gazo
Bill, do all valves follow the same rules for the date...hand stamped? I usually can get the year of the furnaces, from data plate and gas tech inspection date etc....Having one more means to confirm would be great....
