Mike Lamb Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 This is an American PowerFlex water heater. I was looking at the installation instructions and it did not show this type of vent. I have not seen this before. What is its purpose? Click to Enlarge 39.64 KB Click to Enlarge 26.63 KB Click to Enlarge 28.84 KB
Garet Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I've seen lots of power vent WH with combustion air ducted to the bottom, but none of them looked like that. What's up with the gunk in the pan?
Brandon Whitmore Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I haven't see that exact water heater, but the bottom pipe is for combustion air, as Garet already said.
Brandon Whitmore Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Is the water heater directly in front of the furnace?
Mike Lamb Posted January 28, 2013 Author Report Posted January 28, 2013 Is the water heater directly in front of the furnace? Thanks all, Yes. About 8" away. The same tank and set up was used in other units where the water tank was in a separate closet with a washer/dryer. I don't know what the funk in the pan is. The water was off to that WH.
