ellynjd
Our unit is 10 years old. Today it stopped igniting. We can hear the receiver click when we push the "on" and "off" buttons on the remote. We changed out the batteries anyway, but didn't make a difference. The ignitor box has a red light that is lit. Does that mean we have a problem with the ignitor box? Any ideas how to fix this?
Erby
Did you try using the manual switch on the unit itself? Heat & Glo offers a pretty good warranty. Might want to check with them.
ellynjd
Erby, Thanks for your response. I tried the manual switch and nothing happened. From my research, I'm guessing the breakdown is with the DSI box. I have a repair person coming to check it out on Thursday as I don't feel comfortable fooling around with the ignition mechanism. But if you have any other suggestions for a lay person, please let me know. I will check the warrantee as that is a great suggestion! Brandon Whitmore
Does the company that supplies Nat. Gas (assuming it's not propane) have service tech's that will do free diagnostics and possibly repairs? They do around here..... Call your local gas company and find out. ellynjd
Hadn't thought of that. I have a serviceman coming tomorrow. I think our problem isn't with the gas supply but with dsi box.
Hearthman
You can contact your nearest FireSide Hearth & Home, which is owned by the same parent company and Heat&Glo. You can also check at www.nficertified.org for the nearest gas hearth specialist.

Brandon Whitmore
Just to help with future searches......... It sounds like you had a bad Intermittent Pilot Ignition control module...... Was the box green by chance? I run into a bunch of those ones that have failed.
