BlackJack Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Can a pattern of mold and mildue indicate maybe a leaking pipe behind a wall. The soil on 2 sides of the house are 12-18 inches below as here. The other 2 sides have grading problems, a pool and wood decks up or middle of the first course of bricks. Not one weephole to be found. Not to put it in a report. Buyer passed on this one. Just for dissussion here. Download Attachment: 2005-07-21 14-34-18.jpg 654.5 KB
kurt Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 What's that pvc pipe? A condensate drain? If it is, I'd be suspicious of condensate. If not that, I'd guess (& it is just a guess) that water was wicking into the wall through the gas meter pipe.
BlackJack Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 The pipe is the hot water heater drain pan. The T&P is pointed to the pan. It is the wall of the utility room.
Jim Katen Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Well, it's a longshot, but what about that regulator vent? Nah, never mind. - Jim Katen, Oregon
Rob Amaral Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Looks like rain backsplash off the gas meter? Concentrated chronic dampness from that and pollen = black mildew. Just a thought.
