It is not correct, but because it is torched on, it won't leak for a long while. A house I drive past every day has it laid that way.

I had a low slope roof about a month ago that was lapped backwards, the uphill strip laid first. Is it the fumes they breath all day??

1. Let's try to avoid calling it roll roofing - that's a different product.

2. Several manufacturers allow it to be either perpendicular or parallel to the roof incline.

3. Some require it to be one or the other, depending on slope.
