ejager Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Looking for a little help to get me started on researching this odd outlet (with built in breakers?) found in a 1969 home. Click to Enlarge 33.07 KB
John Kogel Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Those little circuit breakers are still available. Usually seen on the kitchen range receptacle. Also in-floor fan heaters. https://www.elfa.se/elfa3~eu_en/elfa/in ... &toc=20525 The only name I came up with for you was "oddball". [] Maybe they are just pushbuttons, but they look like CB's to me.
hspinnler Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Hi Egbert, Combination push button and wall outlets. Where the outlets switched? Here, they usually are in residential construction where the grounding plug faces up.
ejager Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 Should have posted this shot as well. I am pretty sure they were more than simple push button switches. Local inspectors have seen them on rare occasions. Usually with a cover that has the brandname imprinted... I wasn't that lucky. Click to Enlarge 49 KB
hausdok Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 I agree, they look exactly like the circuit breakers I sometimes see inside fan coil units. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Tom Raymond Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 What happened when you pushed the buttons? Did you pull the switches? The screws are missing.
ejager Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 They do look like breakers, I was thinking of the power bars of a few years ago with the little button that popped up. There was no response when the button was pushed. No noise, no interruption of pwer that I could tell with a $3 tester. I lack the resources to 'load test' or otherwise overload the outlet. And I know better than to start playing with 40 year old outlets. [:-graduat
