I was on vacation riding my bike around Diamond Lake in Oregon and I saw this large cabin with this pile of vents on its sides. Whatcha think they are all for?

And the next day I hiked almost to the tippy top of this peak, Mt. Thielsen.

The silver one in the first picture and the two in the last picture are for some kind of Category IV devices. The others look like plumbing vents. The owner, or his metal roofing guy, must have experienced some kind of nightmare with trying to flash plumbing vents that pass up through a metal roof and decided against it.

ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!!

It may have been a super insulated house; maybe they didn't want to penetrate the ceiling insulation, in addition to not messing with the standing seam.

Maybe they are just there for an excuse so you can show us the tippy top of that peak?

I agree with Mike and Kurt, the metal roof sheds snow better and is tighter without all those vents sticking out of it.

I imagine that was a thrilling climb, both up and down.

I think they've answered your question about the vents, just about the mountain I think it was a good experience of you to climb that mountain. Just want to experience the same thing too.
