mthomas1 Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Assuming that there is no flashing under the tile to extend up the wall and counter flash, does anyone have a link to an effective flashing design for the junction of parapet wall coping tiles with adjacent vertical masonry such as these two chimneys? - Thanks Click to Enlarge 39.76?KB Click to Enlarge 26.02?KB
Bill Kibbel Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Under tile copings installed in recent years, there is supposed to be a continuous flashing. This flashing should terminate at walls/chimneys with a "saddle flashing" and counter flashing. I've used this diagram to illustrate: Click to Enlarge 70.05?KB
kurt Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I've never been able to find an online drawing for this detail. Where'd you get this? The membrane flashing for this application is usually worthless unless it's a 40mil self adhered type.
Bill Kibbel Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I've never been able to find an online drawing for this detail. Where'd you get this? It was years ago. I think it might be from a magazine I used to get about commercial roofing, aimed at architects, specifiers and facilities managers. I think it was Architectural Roofing or something similar to that name. I dropped it when it, like many others, got bought by a big media co.
mthomas1 Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 Thanks. There is also this, which I adapted from a scan from the ASMM: Click to Enlarge 44.32?KB However, none of these directly addres tile copings.
kurt Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 In Chicago, a nice big slather of roofing cement is the standard approach. Click to Enlarge 68.1 KB
