Mike Lamb Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I have found the main lugs scorched on a couple of recent jobs. What caused this? Are electricians working with hot wires and playing with fire? Click to Enlarge 44.42 KB Click to Enlarge 40.72 KB Click to Enlarge 46.71 KB Click to Enlarge 36.76 KB
Nolan Kienitz Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Fusing the locking screw will pose some "fun" in future replacements!!
AHI in AR Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 The conductors don't show signs of problems, but surface contact with the lugs resulted in some exciting moments. Maybe some moron was trying to check voltage improperly.
hausdok Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Or the panel enclosure was in and the SEC hooked up but no breakers installed in the panel yet and the idjit contractor used a set of jumper cables to power up his gear. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Tom Raymond Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Mr. O is on to something. Did these places have hardwood floors or blown in insulation? I have seen several floor sanders and a couple of blower rigs that were set up to clamp on rather than plug in. Contractors are a special breed.

They got busted by the irate occupant.
