What is the cause of this yuk?

The lower 2 feet around most of this house has this green yuk. What causes this? I know it's moisture, but how the heck does it get all around the house?

Insufficient separation between siding and ground, gutters discharging next to foundation, poor surface drainage, and obstructed air circulation, I would be surprised if it didn't have growth.

Splash-up. I see a downspout, but no gutters.

What Bill said. There's a solid walkway all around the house and no gutters.

That green algae grows anywhere the sun never hits up here in the rainforest. If you never wash your car, it will grow on that too.

It's just mud splashing up on the side of the house 'cuz there aren't any gutters there.
