Bryan Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Does anyone know if commercial FPE three phase panels, and master distribution panels have the same concerns as residential panels? Bryan
John Kogel Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I am pretty sure that the bulk of complaints about Federal Pacific products has to do with the Stab-Lok circuit breakers, specifically those manufactured in the NY area. The other products, such as the older fused disconnects and the commercial disconnects, don't have any history of being flaky that I have heard of. But I'm in Canada, so whatever, I have no authority on the subject. []
Jim Katen Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 One of the problems was the unique FPE bus design. Did this equipment have buses like the ones on residential equipment? The other problem had to do with badly made breakers. Were these the same Stab-Lok breakers that you'd find on a residential panel?
Bryan Posted March 19, 2012 Author Report Posted March 19, 2012 Thanks guys. . Jim, the breakers looked just like a typical ITE design, so without the FPE label on the door, I would not have known the manufacture. Bryan

Could it be that someone yanked the FPE panel from the FPE box and stuck an ITE panel in it instead? Kind of like this: http://www.eaton.com/Electrical/USA/Pro ... /index.htm
Ken Meyer Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 No known issues with FP fused disconnects like this one I found today? Click to Enlarge 22.05 KB

All of the other commercial FPE panels I have seen had different breakers in them.
