Neal Lewis Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 This thing is part of an old, defunct fire alarm system with the heat sensors at the ceilings. What is it ?? Thanks Click to Enlarge 32.97 KB
Marc Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 It looks like an 'ice cube' relay, very popular in electric control systems. Not sure what task it's tending to in that attic. Marc
Robert Jones Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Just never stop learning. I have never heard of an "Ice Cube" relay. Good pull Marc.
John Kogel Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Not sure what task it's tending to in that attic. Marc Everytime people stick their heads up in the attic, the relay is there to baffle them? []
Les Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 OK, Marc gets a prize! I never heard the term "Icecube" relay.
Marc Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Hmmm. Well I sure hope someone doesn't come along and say it's a photoelectric cell to turn on the attic lights when the hatch is opened. Might lose my prize. Marc But then, some 'ice cube' devices might have a photocell inside them.
