John Dirks Jr Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 This '97 split level has the main supply coming through the slab. I can't decide whats going on here. Is that PE supply line being coupled to copper with a Fernco coupler? Or maybe the PE is a sleeve for a copper supply line? What can you tell from the picture? The coupler was not straight inline with the PE portion, that's for sure. What is the concern here if any? Click to Enlarge 37.16 KB
AHI in AR Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 As you know, it's common practice to sleeve copper under a slab. I suspect they added the Fernco to eliminate the chance of underground water seeping out of the gap between the poly and the copper. Is the point where this enters the home at an elevation below the meter?

John Dirks Jr Posted November 27, 2011 Author Report Posted November 27, 2011 IE, the meter is not in a pit on the exterior if that's what you mean. It's on the wall in the interior of the house. I see that you were thinking that maybe water in an exterior crock might drain into the house through the sleeve. Is that what you were thinking? If so, doubtful in this case.
