Mark P Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 This was a typical size kids room in a forclosure I inspected today. I was told that the previous owners paid $5000 for this one room to be painted. Granted it is very well done, air brushed I think, but it makes me wonder if they spent that sort of money on a paint job, where else did they spend/waste money and maybe if they have been more carefull the house would not have been in foreclosure. AHI in AR Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 These are the same sort of questions which have been raised in previous posts about foreclosures. The bottom line is that some people lose their home due to circumstances out of their control such as job loss, but some people simply spend more than they should. Obviously, I don't know the case here, but I suspect the latter.
Bill Kibbel Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 That mural wasn't for the kids. It was just for showing off to their friends when they had dinner parties. Just like the ridiculous foyers and decks that could be be heliports.
Tim Maxwell Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 when I was a teenager I remember being SO excited because my parents let me choose the color that I wanted for them to paint my room. Probably $5 for a gallon of paint.
allseason Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I agree with Mr.K. I come across those silo like entry foyers all the time and just imagine the waste of heating and cooling needed.
Scottpat Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I did a home several years back in Mississippi that had Winnie the Poo and friends. It even had a fiberglass tree that grew out of the corner of the room the limbs formed a canopy over the bed, no telling how much that thing cost! It was in a repo home as well, but the owner lost the house because it was seized by the FBI/SEC/IRS. The former owner was an ousted World Com (Bernie Ebers company) executive, not one of Mississippi's finer moments.
David Meiland Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 If I had my daughter's room painted like that, she'd grab a handful of sharpie markers and add a whole bunch of her own touches to it.

Jerry Simon Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 It's a tough man who doesn't overspend on his daughters. Sounds like ya know of what ya speak. I gots three of 'em. Just drove to Tennessee to inspect a home the middle one bought (with the help of Scott P). How many ya got?

Their cousin's dresses were not good enough. Ugh. I am weak.
Tom Raymond Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Oh, I'm in big trouble then. At least she likes to help around the house. Laundry day is more entertaining than the TV. Click to Enlarge 43 KB
Chad Fabry Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Tom, that's a really cute little girl. She's so cute that that I know you'll understand why I think a DNA test is in order.
Tom Raymond Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Except for the bowed legs, she takes after her mother.[]

kurt Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 I kinda like it too. It doesn't seem all that excessive. I might do something like that for myself......
allseason Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 These rooms look like something from that house makeover show.
John Dirks Jr Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 I wonder if my dog likes all the different color nuggets in her food. Sure looks good to me.

Chad Fabry Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 OMG! That's a garage door? I swear-to-God that I thought I was looking through a huge window from inside cabin in the Alaskan wilderness!

mikebreman Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Really an interesting thing to read here. I really just hope that as you have choices to make for your kids bedroom, the paint would definitely compensate the kids beds of this one. I just hope that things would work out well in this one. Thanks for this one!
