Jim Baird Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 This ceiling mounted bath vent has a hand operable damper, but no fan associated with it. Terminal above through roof looks like this. I guess if you smoked in the bath you could blow the smoke right up it. Click to Enlarge 31.39 KB Click to Enlarge 54.8 KB
Bain Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 It's better than nothing, I suppose. I wonder why they didn't tap into the light fixture circuit, though, and install a mechanical fan?
Jim Baird Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 Because the owner/occupant was a 1940 UGA grad and did not cotton to the new fangled. She had four vented space heaters and two unvented ones. Two rooms only AC'd by window units. She last painted the outside in 1973.
Garet Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Please tell us, what's keeping water from coming in???
Jim Baird Posted September 10, 2011 Author Report Posted September 10, 2011 My guess, garet, is that there is a flange or such under that turtleback that stands up an inch or more...
allseason Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 That's a roof vent meant for a pitched roof and it has a flange inside. That may keep out the water but probably not snow melt, if you get snow, which is uncommon in GA.
Tom Raymond Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 The bucket was relocated for the inspection.[:-dev3]
