Sources of info on insulation

I'm in the midst of assembling a booklet on a comprehensive review of insulation materials, properties, applications and pros/cons that will form the basis of a 2 to 4 hour CE class for home inspectors in my area.

If you're aware of any original sources of information on the topic, I'd appreciate it. No Carson/Dunlop, I-NACHI or other association crap pls, just the original source material.

Is there anything other than air being used out there?

It might shock you but yes. We've graduated to straw reinforced, mud packed, mass walls. We tend to lead the pack.
