Has anyone noticed how AARP has morphed into nada mas que a mass marketer? They changed their name to AARP, which initials stand for nothing. They fund political action without any voice from their membership, but they always have some deal to offer, Suckas!

I read something (quite a while ago, so I might not be completely accurate) about AARP is now two separate entities. AARP Services is a for profit organization and AARP Foundation is the non-profit. The first sells products and services and the latter runs many free programs and advocates for protections.

I've been receiving their mailings for over 10 years. I'm still in my 40s.

I have resisted joining, even as a sexagenerian but my wife signed up to get some kind of discount on a recent trip, but as it turned out we didn't even use it.

I think membership has about the same advantage as joining Sam's Club or whatever.

When you get older and go on SS and Medicare, you will also need a supplemental insurance plan and a pharmacy plan. AARP offers some of the best programs around at competitive prices.
