Erby Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 I've never seen stranded tin coated copper but then, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I have seen stranded aluminum in older houses from the 50's.
Jim Katen Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 In the 50's did they make stranded aluminum wire or stranded tin coated copper? I see stranded tin-coated copper at least once a week these days. In fact, let's see, it's Tuesday, and I've seen it in three houses so far this week.
Phillip Posted July 18, 2011 Author Report Posted July 18, 2011 Thank you for the information. It is the first time I have seen this. I talked to some of the inspectors n my area and they had not seen either. I could not get a good view of the ends so I could not tell. There where other electrical problem so I recommend to have the electrician verify which one it was.
