NJinspector Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Little pricey, but 800 lumens?? Probably too bright for everything but the crawlspace? http://www.ohgizmo.com/2011/06/28/suref ... -invictus/
AHI in AR Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 $700 is just a "little pricey" for a flashlight????
Bain Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I use an O-Light M30 every day that generates 700 lumens. It costs about $140.00.
kurt Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I've become a fan of the Olight line. As my last Fenix tail switches fade, I'm transitioning to Olight. M20S R5 is a really nice light.
Mark P Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Damn you Kurt, now everyone here is going to have to go buy a new light! At least it takes the same batteries as the fenix.
Terence McCann Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I use an O-Light M30 every day that generates 700 lumens. It costs about $140.00. How long have you had it John? Does it take 2 or 4 batteries? Any down sides?
Ben H Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I too just picked up a O-light Mxxx (can't remember) Warrior. It's a nice light. Plus, it looks bad ass. You know, when you wanna look like you get your gear from Seal Team 6.
Chad Fabry Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 My fenix TK45 is 760 lumens @ $124. It kicks a little when you click the switch.
Bain Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I use an O-Light M30 every day that generates 700 lumens. It costs about $140.00. How long have you had it John? Does it take 2 or 4 batteries? Any down sides? It uses two 18650s. I also have its little brother, the M20, which uses one 18650. I've had them both for at least a year, and no problems at all. 700 lumens in a crawlspace, attic or dark basement is the cold stone nuts. And . . . I've dropped both lights a gazillion times, and they keep on tickin'.
caryseidner Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 My fenix TK45 is 760 lumens @ $124. It kicks a little when you click the switch. And no tail switch issue 'cause it don't got one! It's a badass light.
Robert Jones Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 It's times like this that I hate coming to this site. I had to order one! Bastards.
hausdok Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Still clunking along with my Maglite with a led bulb and liking it. Don't have a need to start a fire with my light. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Brandon Whitmore Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Still clunking along with my Maglite with a led bulb and liking it. Don't have a need to start a fire with my light The only light I've nearly started a fire with was a re-chargeable mag. Laid it down to do something in a crawlspace, smelled burning plastic, and looked down to find the vapor barrier smoking and melting. I sure did have a big forearm from carrying that dinosaur under houses all day though...........[]
Neal Lewis Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Changed to the Jetbeam BC40. 830 lumens for $69. Practically disposable at that price. Same size as the Stinger. Fenix TK30 switch failed after a year.
kurt Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I've become a mega-lumens believer; more is better. There doesn't seem to be a level of diminishing returns, except when it's too bright to look in the electrical panel. So, 700+ lumens? Sure. Of course. I just haven't done it yet; I like the single 18650 size.
Bain Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 These things are like everything else--the outputs will continually increase, while costs spiral downward. I used to carry four UltraStingers around 'cause the runtimes were so awful. I saw a bug guy with one a couple of weeks ago. He may as well have been holding a candle.

John Kogel Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 What's this about about using a flashlight for hunting? Isn't pit-lamping illegal in your country? [?]
hausdok Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 What's this about about using a flashlight for hunting? Isn't pit-lamping illegal in your country? [?] Depends on what you're hunting. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
NJinspector Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 Definitely dumping my ultra stinger streamlight, but when comparing to the fenix, the tk45 looks very bulky. Chad, does it fit in a tool belt or is it too big/heavy for that?
gtblum Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 What's this about about using a flashlight for hunting? Isn't pit-lamping illegal in your country? [?] Is pit lamping the same as deer jacking? Do you guys help light up your high school football fields with these things when you're not working? I'm waiting for the new Binford 9000. That's the one Tim the tool man has. They claim, under the right conditions, you can charge particles, and induce the northern lights.
