Robert Jones Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 That looks cool. What is it for? Social trip? Rail line check? Historical thing? Is that you in the bullwinkle cart?
hausdok Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 What the hell? Some kind of weird collector's club on an outing? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
John Kogel Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Actually, it's a race - Oldtimer's Crash-to-Pass. []
Bill Kibbel Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 It's a big boys' train set. http://www.narcoa.org/newsite/faq.htm
David Meiland Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 That looks like lots of fun. They got a club car?
Nolan Kienitz Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 There was a group of the speeders running the old Soo Line and some of the old Great Northern Rail in Northeast Montana a couple of years ago. I saw a clip about it in my hometown newspaper (Plentywood, MT ... Sheridan County News). The speeders on that run were all privately owned and rebuilt, etc.. Of course ... had to get permission from the current rail owners.
Richard Moore Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Well, that's just goofy! I'm jealous. It looks like a lot of fun and sort of relaxing at the same time.
kurt Posted June 12, 2011 Author Report Posted June 12, 2011 Bullwinkle is my buddy Steve's car. Steve Hier, another HI in Chicago. I'm the guy in the green hat in cab, he's the engineer. Buncha nuts that find these things, rebuild them, then go on runs on old rail line all over the US of A. Some of them are things of beauty. In Traverse City now.......I'll post a few more pics when I get back to Chicago.
Marc Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Any husband/wife teams in the group? The speeders look roomy, comfy. Are the headsets for talking to other speeders or is it so noisy that it's needed to talk to the engineer in the same cab? Marc
charlieb Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 You have some unique friends and a wonderful fun filled life. Enjoy your outing.
charlieb Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Somebody help me out here. How do I obtain (copy) a link to this thread?
rkenney Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Awesome!! Where can I get one? My wife would kill me . . . Bob Kenney www.IndependentHomeInspectionMD.com
David Meiland Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Charlie, what I do to get a link to a TIJ thread is to right-click the thread title in the list, and then open the thread in a new tab (assuming you have tabbed browsing). For some reason, that gives me a link with a topic number. https://inspectorsjournal.com/forum/top ... C_ID=14334
