OakRidgeInspects Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 It was recently suggested to me that it would be a good idea for inspectors in this neck of the woods to also pay close attention to recently constructed developments, particularly to their foundations and common area retaining walls. Also, it was suggested that it would be prudent to do a little reading on the subject of cut-fill transition foundation settlement, per Chapter 7 of Geotechnical and Foundation Engineering, Day, 1999. Particularly figure 7.5. But please understand that I'm offering no official opinion on the matter. Every inspector knows that they walk into a potential hornets nest on each job. I'm only suggesting that it would be prudent to bone up on this species of hornet.
