Les Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 I have seen this style installation several hundred times. Very common in our area. Jamb extensions and plenty of good quality caulk. Often backer rod is required to save on the caulk volume.

Often backer rod is required to save on the caulk volume. They do the same thing here, only they cover up the yuck--and usually the lintel--with trim coil. I always tell people I have no idea whether water is seeping behind the aluminum.
