Lasswell Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I recently ran across this crack. It was located at the rear door from a garage. There were no other visible cracks in the garage floor slab or foundation wall. Any ideas on what the caused it? What would be your recommendation? Thanks John Click to Enlarge 47.61 KB
mgbinspect Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 It appears the floor slab is poured through and over the foundation wall. The crack was pretty much inevitable, since most of the slab is floating, but that portions rests directly on the foundation and footing. Just patch it, forget it, but expect it to continue to crack. That's my two cents. I wouldn't make a federal case out of it, that's for sure.
John Kogel Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Yes. it is typical place for cracks. I fairly often see tiled entryways on slab floors with cracked tiles right along that line. There will usually be a welcome mat there, hiding the cracks.
Lasswell Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Thanks guys, I haven't seen this before but I basically said in my report the same thing you said MGB. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. Thanks John
