inspectorreuben Posted April 2, 2011 Author Report Posted April 2, 2011 Talking about electrical panel... Do you guys, in the US, automatically recommend an electrician when aluminum wiring is present in the panel? Here, if there is aluminum wiring in the panel and the owner doesn't have a paper saying that an electrician approved the panel's installation, we automatically recommend that an electrician check the panel, make sure the right type of aluminum wiring was used and approves the installation with a written document. Just wondering if it's as severe in the US and what's the procedure? I pretty much say the same thing. I also give my clients a link to a document written by Douglas Hansen; this is the best document I've come across when it comes to aluminum wiring and home inspections. http://www.structuretech1.com/AluminumWire.pdf
