They'll do just fine if they have a place to hide from the bass. As long as Chad is "Structure Smart", he should have a fun little fish farm there. Think reef. Even in a pond. Chad, if you have a nice cold spring feeding it, small mouths could make it. If not, large mouths are what you want.
