Marc Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Click to Enlarge 31.9 KB This is an otherwise all-electric home with a propane powered fireplace. Aside from the obvious danger of striking the tank with a vehicle, are there any code cites I can use to require it's relocation to a safer area? It's a USDA_RD inspection on an existing dwelling. I can make requirements. Marc
Richard Moore Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I would consider an open carport to be very well ventilated. As long as there are no building openings within 5 feet or mechanical intakes within 10, I would say it's OK (with your caveat about vehicle protection). http://www.propane101.com/images/propan ... tances.gif
Bill Kibbel Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Under a carport roof is not considered "indoors". Something to consider - that tank is considered a "point of transfer" and a running vehicle w/in 10' is an ignition source.

I found it. Thanks.
