Which bug is it?

The door on the first floor is leaking at both sides but the water didn't cause this stuff.

Which bug is it that did?

The second photo shows the pile on the ceiling tile after I took it down.

There's only one bug that I know of that's so fastidious that it takes the trash outside to dump it and that's a carpenter ant.

Whatever they were burrowing in, it doesn't look like wood dust, so it may just be superficial damage to ........ whatever that stuff is. Ceiling tile?

Foam from inside that metal panel door. I've seen the same thing on overhead garage doors that are foam sandwich.

Just a guess, but that's what it looks like, sort of......

Ants like foam; it's a nice warm nesting spot.
