John Dirks Jr Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Got this from a friend today for $150. All tuned up and ready to go. Just need some snow. 5hp I believe. Enough for my moderate driveway and walks. Click to Enlarge 39.89 KB
Scottpat Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 My guess, based on what was dumped on me today and what we are suppose to get tonight is that you will be playing with that funny looking tiller in no time at all!
Steven Hockstein Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Large snowblower=very popular in neighborhood after heavy snowfall. Make sure you fill the grease fittings and I strongly recommend keeping a few spare auger shear pins in the workshop (says the guy that had to go and find shear pin after it broke in the middle of using his snowblower). Have fun!!!
Tom Raymond Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 With mad snow from Hotlanta to NYC you should get plenty of chances to play with your new toy. Don't run yourself over.
gtblum Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 John, I don't know what kind of experience you have with snowblowers but, remember to never ever clear the discharge chute with your hand or with it running. Looks like a nice size for the snow you guys normally get.
John Kogel Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Large snowblower=very popular in neighborhood after heavy snowfall. Oh, it's for snow? I thought it was a cannon for shooting tennis balls. []

tbird Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Never seen anything like it?!? It sure is hard to shovel sunshine. [^]
Jim Katen Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 And don't wear your Batman cape while using it.
Charlie R Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Hey John - did it come with a trailer so you can load it up and come over to my house?
John Dirks Jr Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 Hey John - did it come with a trailer so you can load it up and come over to my house? Charlie, Isn't hard work whats kept you going all these years? Don't quit now. No trailer. Thanks for the tips everyone.

Erby Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Joe, why is she leaving all that snow behind where she's walking?
JeremyDP Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 St. Louis got about 4 inches overnight. It's falling in Cleveland now, they are supposed to get 7 inches. Soon you will get to play with your new toy...
John Kogel Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Joe, why is she leaving all that snow behind where she's walking? It's hard to explain, but men are just better at some things, and operating a snowblower is one of them. Click to Enlarge 15.92 KB
gtblum Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I wonder if that guy's got one of those expensive new flashlights?

Erby Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Now that you have the needed toy, you probably won't get the needed weather conditions.
John Dirks Jr Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 Most of this storm is going north of me. Only got an inch so far. I doubt it will be enough to get the machine involved. I'm the mark on this map. Click play and you can see the storm moving away to the north. Looks like NYC's gonna get it good again. http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/21146:4
Chad Fabry Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I wonder if that guy's got one of those expensive new flashlights? That hurt. Snowblowers are embarrassing; I have a skidsteer.
Tom Raymond Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I turned my dishwasher into a snow thrower. I bought my wife a snow shovel.[:-eyebrow
Inspectorjoe Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Joe, why is she leaving all that snow behind where she's walking? Uh ........ she's such a thoughtful person, she doesn't want to cause wear to the scraper bar. Yeah! That's it!

John Dirks Jr Posted February 28, 2011 Author Report Posted February 28, 2011 Here you go,Dirks- What New Yorkers use to move snow I had a slushfest gravel spiting experience for my first snow blower date. It was lame. I need some deeper fluffier stuff to make me feel like I got something done.
