Terence McCann Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 A heads up regarding free sound editing software (my interest is always piqued when free is mentioned): Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. Learn more about Audacity... Also check our Wiki and Forum for more information. Audacity As I'm slowly plowing my way through my vinyl library, to convert it to digital format, this type of program is indispensable. I'm currently using Adobe Audition however it's pay to play.
Bain Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 A friend and I use Audition for recording our guitars and other stuff. He's an engineer, who's used the program for a long while, and he can pretty much do anything that's necessary. For me, though, Audition would probably require a year of my life to learn. I'll try Audacity and see if it's a little more user friendly. Thanks.
Ben H Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Been using it for years now. I really like the noise reduction feature. Select a small piece of noise in the track, and it seeks and destroys. Good stuff. If you need some serious controls Sony Acid is another high end program.
