Scottpat Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Yesterday I had the pleasure of inspecting a home that is around 200 years old. In the attic I found just a few rat poison containers. Then I found a bird nest/pile that was a couple feet tall! Click to Enlarge 42.24 KB Click to Enlarge 48.75 KB Click to Enlarge 70.77 KB
Charlie R Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Man, I hope you washed your hands before dinner!
Ben H Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Looks like some snazzy contact paper in that light pic, or was it wallpaper?
kurt Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 That looks like a squirrel nest to me; not birds. I bet they're trying to poison squirrels, not mice. Won't work; you gotta use the grain elevator stuff for squirrels, and even then, it might not kill the bast---s.
Mike Lamb Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 .. and termites on the left in that last photo?
hausdok Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Piece of twine. See the staple holding it to the stud? OT - OF!!! M.
AHI in AR Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Looks like some snazzy contact paper in that light pic, or was it wallpaper? Looks more like vinyl flooring from the early 1970's to me...
John Kogel Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 That looks like bird poop to me. Starlings will try to build a nest like that. Pigeons maybe. In 200 years, could include everything from squirrels to roof beavers. [] Every time they heard a rat, he would toss up another box of bait. I guess the rats were not impressed. I see a few droppings, no teeth marks in that bait. All that rustling they were hearing was probably the birds, anyway.
Scottpat Posted December 12, 2010 Author Report Posted December 12, 2010 It had termites and beetles as well as rats, birds and chipmunks! I'll post some additional pictures when I get some time tomorrow.
