kathy cupo Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 I found water all over my garage floor but couldn't find out where from. Went on the roof, checked the boiler, went under the house, noting..just now I stood up on my furnace & there it was, a copper pipe just drewling all over the place, its hard to reach, how can I stop it , Kathy from Toms River did I mention, I just carpeted the garage to relax in..so much 4 that
Neal Lewis Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 That's a big heater, if you can stand up on it. First you gotta find out what it's attached to. Then again, I would just call Darren, he'll come over and fix it for ya.[] http://www.aboutthehouseinspections.com/
Robert Jones Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Copper pipe at the furnace? Is it servicing the furnace? then it would be some kind of condensate line. If it's not attached to or servicing the furnace, could be a bad water line. Did you take a pic?
Darren Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 If it was last week I would've at least looked at it; I was in Toms Rivers working on a house my neighbor inherited. Humidifier line?
Steven Hockstein Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 If it was last week I would've at least looked at it; I was in Toms Rivers working on a house my neighbor inherited. Humidifier line? I agree with Darren. If it isn't the humidifier itself, the culprit may be one of those self piercing saddle valves for the humidifier water supply. I often see leaks at valve.
Nolan Kienitz Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 there it was, a copper pipe just drewling all over the place, From an inspection comment "writing" perspective this is a great comment. "pipe just drewling (spelling correction to: drooling) all over the place" I have got to put that in the list of possible comments. Kathy - Thanks for the good description (to the point)! A lot of good comments here. Reach out to Darren.
Darren Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Steve, You mean those 'self-piercing' shut-offs that are sold with ice makers and humidifiers but are actually prohibited under the plumbing code? Nolan, It's a long reach. I'm 1 1/2 hours away. Kathy, Just call a plumber.
Jim Morrison Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Sounds like the pressure relief valve on your boiler opened. Call a heating guy and he'll have you fixed up in a hour or so.
Neal Lewis Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 did I mention, I just carpeted the garage to relax in..so much 4 that Well, I hope she fixes it so the carpeting in the garage isn't ruined...
