Scottpat Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Yesterday I came across an condensation pump discharge line that was plugged directly into the main sewer line. This is a concrete basement setting that is a good 12" below the city street level. In the mechanical room they also had a drain pump (small lift pump) for the wetbar sink. The picture shows the condensation pump and the drain pump next to each other. Is there any reason that the condensation pump could not empty into the same line as the wetbar sink and then let the drain pump discharge both up into the main line? Erby Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Wonder why they don't just do away with the condensate pump and let both drain into the same lift pump? -

MPdesign Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I am not a specialist so I shouldnt say anything... (which means that I am).. But it may have something to do with the "flash steam" or "a little bit of steam" still in the condensate line that may propagate back up through the sanitary line if not made into 100% water before being dumped.
